Does anyone know why?
Why was the boat called the Mayflower?
They are named for the Mayflower, which transported the Pilgrim Fathers from Plymouth, England to Virginia.
Reply:Hey Chris....from someone whoes family came over in 1632:Nina Pinta and Santa Maria were a)Spanish, b)Christopher Columbus, and c)1492, not 1620
and it was named the Mayflower because
April showers bring Mayflowers
adn Mayflowers bring Pilgrims
Reply:I dont know but,all the other boats have hispanic names.. the Nina, Pinta, and the Santa Maria... Whats up with that? They were English, coming from England, with Spanish named boats?? Alls I know is I'm related too John Alden who came in on the Mayflower... And one day my youngest daughter %26amp; I were at a "Yard-Sale" browsing... well they had some books, we looked through, and lo' %26amp; behold, two of them were children's history books, so I thought I'd buy them for my daughter, because she needed to get her reading level up, a bit... Come to find out, one of these books was about a diary, of one of the little girls who road over on the Mayflower.. she even talks about John Alden and his crush he had on one of the ladies, on the boat!! We were so "Blown-Away" that we were reading about one of our deseasts family members, in a little girls diary, of thier voyage to America!!! How cool is that?!!! Smile!!!!
