My nephew was just curious. He is seven years old.
On average, how many pilgrams were on the Mayflower?
During the first winter in the New World, the Mayflower colonists suffered greatly from diseases like scurvy, lack of shelter and general conditions onboard ship. 45 of the 104 emigrants died the first winter. Additional deaths during the first year meant that only 53 people were alive to celebrate the first Thanksgiving.[1] Of the 18 adult women, 13 died the first winter while another died in May. Only four adult women were left alive for the Thanksgiving.[2] Includes date of death, where recorded.
Reply:On average??
Reply:Wikipedia lists the full complement of people aboard the Mayflower's one visit. Please note, however, that not all are Pilgrims. Richard Warren, for example, was aboard as representative of the London merchants who helped bankroll the voyage.
